Welcome to Family Tech Tips!
My name is Allen. I am from Houston, Texas. I have lived in
Houston for most of my life. The short time that I was not in Houston it was because
I was on the east coast serving in the United States Navy. I served for 6 years
and spent time in the D.C. Area at a military hospital and, in Virginia aboard
an aircraft carrier. After my 6 years were complete, I was honorably discharged
as Petty Officer Second Class Hospital Corpsman. Shortly after discharging from
the military, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from
Ashford University, and then my commercial driver’s license from Houston
Community College. Currently I work for a transportation company. The days are
long and draining but I make the most out of every day. In 2022, I married my
best friend. She and I have two bur children. Their names are Mya and Buddy. We’ve
had Mya since she was a puppy, and we rescued Buddy. They are both 3 years old
but, Mya is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Buddy is an American Pitbull
Terrier. In my free time I like to go out with friends and family, go to the
gym, walk our dogs, travel, and spend time with my parents, niece, and God-children.
I am currently enrolled at the University of Arizona Global
Campus pursuing a degree in Information Technology. I’ll be very honest, before I begin pursuing
this degree, I knew very little about the field of information technology. Currently
I am enrolled in TEC101: Fundamentals of Information Technology & Literacy and
now I understand how the information is stored, sent across the internet, and a
ton of thermology that I never understood before. Although I am currently a CDL
driver I would like to purse a career in cyber security. I would like to develop
ways to make the internet a safer place for everyone but especially children. Hence
the reason I created this blog. Although I have no children of my own, I have a
niece and 8 God-kids. I see a lot of the things they go through and they ask my
lots of questions about things they encounter on the internet and applications.
I would like for this blog to be a safe space where not only parents but also
aunts, uncles, God-moms, God-dads, and grandparents can learn ways to make the
internet and applications a safer space for kids.
